Alina Szapocznikow. Body Language

Disturbing, strange, existential and sensual, the work of the Franco-Polish sculptor Alina Szapocznikow is hard to categorize. The body, because it is, for her, “the only source of all joy, of all pain and of all truth”, is its main source of inspiration. Throughout her life, the artist developed a new artistic language, composed of eroticism and trauma, celebrating both vital energy and the fragility of human existence.

Organized in collaboration with the Kunstmuseum in Ravensburg, the exhibition presents a chronological and themed trail, comprising more than 150 artworks and 50 documents and archive photographs spanning the artist’s entire career, from 1946 to 1973.
